After three decades of dedicated service, Jane Damato has decided to hang up her oven gloves and step down from running the canteen at the end of this season.
Jane started the café 30 years ago with a small team of mums, serving just teas and coffees. What began as a modest operation quickly evolved into a one-woman powerhouse, with Jane single-handedly running and managing the café.
Over the years, the canteen has undergone several transformations, with menu improvements introducing hot food and snacks. Jane’s leadership also earned the canteen a prestigious 5-star hygiene award from the Food Standards Agency.
With Jane’s departure, it will also mark the end of Michelle’s time as her trusty Saturday sidekick. For the past few years, Michelle has been an invaluable part of the team, helping to organise tea afternoons, the hugely popular children’s Halloween parties, and so much more.
Although stepping back from the canteen, Jane will remain an integral part of the club committee and continue her role as a key figure on the disciplinary committee.
Looking for New Leadership
As Jane and Michelle pass the torch, the club is now seeking interested parties to take over and run the canteen. We are looking for individuals or teams who share our passion for creating a welcoming and successful hub for the club.
If you’re interested, please email us at coneyhallsec@gmail.com. We plan to meet with candidates across the next couple of months to ensure the canteen is in the best possible hands.
On behalf of everyone at Coney Hall FC, thank you, Jane and Michelle, for your outstanding contributions. You’ve set the bar incredibly high, and your legacy will be felt for years to come.
